Excellent New York Times story about National Popular Vote

Please Contact Gov. Schwarzenegger and Urge Him to Sign Assembly Bill AB 2948 — the “Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by Nationwide Popular Vote”

In a September 22 New York Times article:

As attractive as it is to guarantee the White House to the winner of the national vote, Dr. Koza said, he has other goals in mind. “More important,’’ he said, “is changing the way presidential campaigns are conducted in this country. Now, the candidates spend almost all of their time in a handful of battleground states like Ohio and Florida and ignore the rest of the country. This would force candidates to campaign nationally for every vote.” Read the full story

The California Legislature has recently given its final approval to legislation to implement nationwide election of the President. The bill, AB 2948, is now before Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has only 6 days left to decide whether he will sign or veto it.

Please contact Gov. Schwarzenegger and urge him to sign AB2948, the National Popular Vote bill. The Governor's phone number is 916-445-2841. His fax number is 916-445-4633 (and alternatively 916-552-9120 if the main fax line is busy). To send an electronic message, visit http://www.govmail.ca.gov. Please take action immediately, as the Governor must make his decision on the bill by September 30.
